Are you experiencing a lack of hot water? It is not a pleasant sensation when the water from your faucet is not what you were hoping for.

There are steps you can take to identify and address the problem. When prepared with the right hot water solutions, it’s easier to handle a plumbing emergency. +

These solutions benefit you now and in the long term when they are implemented.

What hot water problems are you facing in your home or business? Find out what you can do when you have no hot water with these fixes and advice.

Check Your Hot Water Heater

If your hot water heater is electric, check the circuit breaker or fuse box. The switch may have been tripped or a fuse may have blown.

If the switch has been tripped, simply reset it. If a fuse has blown, replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.

Check the Pilot Light if There Is No Hot Water

If you have no hot water in the house, the first thing you should do is check your pilot light. If it is out, you will need to relight it.

If you have a gas water heater, the pilot light is usually located near the bottom of the tank. There will be a small knob that you can turn to the “on” position.

If you have an electric water heater, the pilot light is usually located above the water heater. There will be a switch that you can flip to the “on” position.

Check Your Gas Line

The first thing you should do is check your gas line. If the line is hooked up to a natural gas supply, then you may need to have the line inspected for leaks. If the line is hooked up to propane, then you may need to replace the tank or have it refilled.

Call a Professional

What you should do is call a professional if it’s still not working after you try to fix it for all possible reasons. A professional will be able to assess the situation and determine the best course of action.

They may be able to fix the problem quickly and efficiently, or they may advise you to replace your hot water heater, then schedule for water heater installation

If There Is No Water, Troubleshoot for Yourself

If your home has no hot water, there are a few things you can try to do to fix the issue. First, check the thermostat to see if it is set too low. If it is, turn it up and wait a few hours to see if the water heats up.

If the thermostat is not the problem, check the pilot light. If it is out, relight it and wait for the water to heat up. If neither of these solutions works, you may need to call a plumber.
